SUMMARY:Lowering of the Pirate Wench
DESCRIPTION:Join your friends and make new ones at the Schooner Wharf Bar New Year’s Eve Celebration. \nThe popular waterfront watering hole once again will present its nautical New Year’s Eve tradition with “Lowering of the Pirate Wench” from the towering mast of the tall ship America 2.0 docked in front of the bar in the Key West Bight. \nEveryone’s favorite pirate wench and co-owner of Schooner Wharf Bar\, Evalena Worthington\, will descend dramatically against large\, illuminated countdown numbers. The stroke of midnight will signal the start of 2017 with cannon fire and the jubilant sound of horns and noisemakers from the crowd against a backdrop of the ship’s crew dressed as pirates. \nSchooner Wharf has complimentary hats\, party favors and horns for everyone to feel festive while enjoying holiday drink specials and live music throughout the day and night. The bash was rated by AOL as the No. 2 New Year’s party in the nation – second only to the Times Square madness in New York City. \nThe Schooner Wharf event made the Huffington Post’s 13 Amazing New Year’s 2014 Photos From Around the World.  Rob O’Neal’s photo of Evalena at Schooner Wharf in Key West was the only photo chosen from this continent! \nThe festivities start early with guitarist Michael McCloud taking the stage from 11:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.  Michael has an incredible ability of commanding the audience with his unique humor and original music and showmanship.  The Raven Cooper Trio are local musicians an eclectic mix of jazz\, country\, blues\, and more\, who will entertain from 5:00 – 8:30. Taking the stage at 9:00 till late is the dynamic sound of Sushi Roll\, a musical act that brings the crowd on a high energy\, dance driven pop overdrive with over-the-top theatrical verve! It’s a unique blend of dance music and rock n’ roll swagger. \nGuaranteed to get you groovin’ and dancin’ into the New Year! \nAs the midnight hour approaches\, DJ Kid Kelly will play party favorites in anticipation of the Auld Lang Syne. Hoist your drink – and your eyes – toward the top of the towering mast as the countdown begins and another year ends. \nBut the end of the year isn’t the end of the party – the Schooner New Year rocks until 4 a.m.   All this and No Cover Charge. \nHave a safe and exciting New Year\, from your friends at Schooner Wharf Bar\, “A last little piece of old Key West.” \nFor more information\, please call Schooner Wharf at (305)-292-3302\, visit www.schoonerwharf.com or check us out on Facebook. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Quantum Key West Race Week 2017
DESCRIPTION:  \n \n  \nQuantum Key West Race Week is celebrating its 30th anniversary and shows off fleet of more than 100 boats shows great strength throughout its ranks. \nThe fleet includes glamour classes like the 52 Super Series\, featuring top professional sailors such as Ed Baird\, John Kostecki\, Terry Hutchinson\, all past winners of the Rolex Yachtsman of the Year award\, and past Italian America’s Cup helmsman Vasco Vascotto. \nThe wildly popular J/70 Class is the largest at the event with 40 of the 23-footers entered this year. The design’s larger sibling\, the 36-foot J/111\, begins a season long march towards the class’s world championship in September. \nORC is the featured rating rule with nine boats entered\, and classes such as the C&C 30 One-Design\, Melges 24 and J/88 enhance the competitive nature of the race week fleet. ORC is also being used to rate boats in the Performance Cruising Class that is competing for its second consecutive year\, and there are two entries in the Multihull Class. \nWhile the racing at the 30th anniversary Quantum Key West Race Week will look and feel very similar to the past 29 editions\, the shoreside venue will be much different. The Waterfront Brewery in the Key West Historic Seaport and Bight will host all shoreside activities related to Race Week\, including daily morning weather briefings\, post-race seminars\, and the nightly awards party. \nFor more information visit https://keywestraceweek.com \n\nPhoto Credit: Sara Proctor
