SUMMARY:37th Annual Schooner Wharf Wrecker's Cup Race
DESCRIPTION:Ahoy Mates! It’s time to clean the bottom and pile on the sails on March 27th \nNo protests\, no pageantry\, just race with us – or against us!  \nThis all-in-fun race series recalls the tradition of the wreckers in the Key West of the 1800’s. Vessels laden with rich cargoes from Gulf and Caribbean ports often became victims of storm and the unmarked reefs off Key West. \nThe first wrecker to reach the site had the responsibility to save the passengers and crew—but they also won the right to salvage the cargoes. Some historians have written that it was not unusual for 20 or 30 boats to race to a wreck. \nWrecker’s Race 2022 Release Form and Entry Form \nThe Captains’ Meetings are held in the Sail Loft at Schooner Wharf at 7:00 p.m. the Saturday before each race. Captains enjoy complimentary Pusser’s Rum punch while reviewing race procedures. \nThe Awards Ceremony & Party is held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday\, race day. Captains & crew can see themselves under sail while viewing film footage taken of the race by the official race committee boat. The popular Big Daddy Rich will be playing Rock\, Soul\, Blues\, Country\, Rare 1 Hit Wonders and AM Gold from the 60s and 70s all with fun and energy. \nTrophies and prizes are earned by the top 3 vessels in 6 to 7 different classes –schooner\, multi-hull\, classic\, monohull 29′ and under\, monohull 30-39 feet\, monohull 40 feet and possibly a Hobie Cat class! \nAt the race start Key West harbor is a magnificent sight\, filled with colorful sails and spinnakers on vessels ranging from 16 feet to 120 feet. \nFor more information\, do not hesitate to call Evalena at or Sheree at 305-292-9520.

SUMMARY:Schooner Wharf Annual Mel Fisher Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Spend a golden day at Schooner Wharf Bar\, where Spanish galleons\, treasure hunting ships\, golden discoveries and priceless memories of the man who made it all happen – Mel Fisher – are on tap for this year’s Dock Party for Mel Fisher Days. \nThe celebration of Key West’s golden dream weaver begins at 3PM\, Saturday\, July 13th at Schooner Wharf Bar\, where Mel Fisher “made his mark\,” when his handprints were cast in a special mold and a section of the bar top is dedicated to his achievements. \nAlthough it took Mel years to find the $400 million mother lode of the Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora de Atocha\, it never took him long to find his friends at Schooner Wharf\, where he could share his stories while keeping a sharp eye on the water that held the riches he was seeking. \nThis year’s Dock Party will celebrate the 34th Anniversary of Atocha’s Mother Lode Discovery and the “good ol’ days” by welcoming the 90′ JB Magruder treasure salvage vessel back to the docks behind Schooner Wharf. For the third time since the 1980s\, the 100-foot working vessel will be on display downtown\, showing off the latest treasure-finding technology that scours the ocean floor for centuries-old coins\, gold bars\, gold chains\, emeralds and silver ingots. \nMeet the Atocha divers and Magruder crew as they return from treasure diving and hear tales of high-seas and high-stakes adventures from Mel’s Golden Crew\, current salvors and members of the Fisher family. \nThe Dock Party will include a limited number of tours of the treasure hunting boat and are available between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Advance registration discount tickets are available at MelFisherDays.com. \nAttendees will have a chance to win cash with the 50/50 raffle. Take a chance to win a Santa Margarita Pearl in the popular “Have Your Cake and Eat it Too” raffle at 4:30 p.m. During the party\, there will also be live treasure auctions to participate in and a HUGE silent auction! \nThere is a week-long raffle for a Grade 3 Atocha coin valued at $1\,600 with the drawing at Schooner Wharf later in the evening\, and you must be present to win! \nThis year’s Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to R. Duncan Mathewson. \nToday’s the Day…to celebrate Mel Fisher and his golden crew! Mel always said that “This place is a treasure\,” so….come discover one of our island’s favorite watering holes for yourself! \nSee you at the Schooner Wharf Bar for the Dock Party Saturday\, July 13 to celebrate Mel Fisher Days 2019 as the JB Magruder arrives from treasure hunting and docks behind the bar! Live music with island sounds by Cayo Ritmo Band will round out the party – it’s sure to be memorable! \n\nProceeds from Mel Fisher Days benefit Wesley House Family Services \nFor more information\, please call (305) 292-9520 or see us on Facebook. \nVerbiage Provided By | Schooner Wharf Bar

SUMMARY:Schooner Wharf's Lowering of the Pirate Wench
DESCRIPTION:Join your friends and make new ones at the Schooner Wharf Bar’s New Year’s Eve Celebration. \nThe popular waterfront watering hole once again will present its nautical New Year’s Eve tradition with “Lowering of the Pirate Wench” from the towering mast of the tall ship America 2.0 docked in front of the bar in the Key West Bight. \nEveryone’s favorite pirate wench and co-owner of Schooner Wharf Bar\, Evalena Worthington\, will descend dramatically against large\, illuminated countdown numbers. The stroke of midnight will signal the start of 2019 with cannon fire and the jubilant sound of horns and noisemakers from the crowd against a backdrop of the ship’s crew dressed as pirates. \nSchooner Wharf has complimentary hats\, party favors and horns for everyone to feel festive while enjoying holiday drink specials and live music throughout the day and night. The bash was rated by AOL as the No. 2 New Year’s party in the nation – second only to the Times Square madness in New York City. \nThe Schooner Wharf event made the Huffington Post’s 13 Amazing New Year’s 2014 Photos From Around the World.  Rob O’Neal’s photo of Evalena at Schooner Wharf in Key West was the only photo chosen from this continent. \nGuaranteed to get you groovin’ and dancin’ into the New Year! \nAs the midnight hour approaches\, hoist your drink – and your eyes – toward the top of the towering mast as the countdown begins and another year ends. \nBut the end of the year isn’t the end of the party – the Schooner New Year rocks until 4 a.m. All this and No Cover Charge. \nHave a safe and exciting New Year\, from your friends at Schooner Wharf Bar\, “A last little piece of old Key West.” \nFor more information\, please call Schooner Wharf at (305)-292-3302.

SUMMARY:25th Annual Battle of the Bars
DESCRIPTION:Some things you have to see to believe\, and the 25th annual Battle of the Bars at Schooner Wharf Bar is one of those events. \nThis year’s showdown begins at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday\, Aug. 5\, when teams of seven from local bars and restaurants compete in a hilarious relay race that tests their mixing\, serving and drinking skills. And in true Key West style\, the judges can be bribed and “bought” with donations that benefit local charities. Teams can buy their way into the next round to advance in the standings. \nThe fastest team takes home the trophy and bragging rights\, but prizes and awards are also given for the most generous teams with the Deepest Pockets and for the Most Outrageous Team Costume. \nBattle of the Bars quickly becomes a spectator sport\, as soon as the first team tests their skills on the obstacle course. The enthusiastic crowd immediately gets involved in the antics\, cheers for their favorites and opens their wallets to help groups that help others. So come choose your team and support local charities. \n            See you at the Schooner Wharf Bar! To enter your team or for more information\, call 305 292-3302 or visit \n  \n\n  \nPhoto Credit: Schooner Wharf Bar

SUMMARY:Schooner Wharf's Mel Fisher Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Spend a golden day at Schooner Wharf Bar\, where Spanish galleons\, treasure hunting ships\, golden discoveries and priceless memories of the man who made it all happen – Mel Fisher – are on tap for this year’s Dock Party for Mel Fisher Days. \nThe celebration of Key West’s golden dream weaver begins at 3 p.m. Saturday\, July 14th at Schooner Wharf Bar\, where Mel Fisher “made his mark\,” when his handprints were cast in a special mold and a section of the bar top is dedicated to his achievements. \nThis year’s Dock Party will celebrate the 33rd Anniversary of Atocha’s Mother Lode Discovery and the “good ole’ days” by welcoming the 90′ JB Magruder treasure salvage vessel back to the docks behind Schooner Wharf. \nThe Dock Party will include a limited number of tours of the treasure hunting boat and are available between 4:30 and 6:30 pm. Advance registration discount tickets are available at www.MelFisherDays.com. \nAttendees will have a chances to win cash a with the 50/50 raffle. Take a chance to win an Emerald with the popular “Have your Cake and Eat it Too” raffle at 4:30 pm.  During the party\, there will also be live treasure auctions to participate in and a HUGE silent auction! \nThere is a week long raffle for a Grade 3 Atocha coin valued at $1\,400 with the drawing at Schooner Wharf later in the evening\, you must be present to win! \nThis year’s Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Golden Crew member marine archaeologist\, James J. Sinclair.  As director of the laboratories\, he was charged with the conservation of over 500\,000 archaeological objects and helped in developing techniques currently used in many laboratories around the world today.  In 1980 Sinclair also assisted in the archaeological recovery of the sister ship of the Atocha\, the Santa Margarita\, where over 20 million in treasure was recovered. He has also been the chief archaeologist on projects that range from searching for legendary shipwrecks in Indonesia\, Guam and the Caribbean. \nSee you at the Schooner Wharf Bar for the Dock Party Saturday\, July 14 to celebrate Mel Fisher Days 2018 as the JB Magruder arrives from treasure hunting and docks behind the bar! \n\nLeft Photo: Coin Winner: Lindsay Lewis (3rd from left)\, w/Stevie\, Dave\, Taffi.\nRight Photo: Cupcake Raffle volunteers Pete Kammerer\, Lisa Grabowski with 50/50 Drawing ticket keeper\, Karolina Calderwood.\nPhoto Credit: Schooner Wharf Bar
