Are you looking for a way to maximize the most out of your fun this upcoming Memorial Day weekend? Well, look no further. Starting on May 26th, the 28th Annual Schooner Wharf Minimal Regatta is guaranteed to provide the most entertainment and more than a few laughs. This annual event puts your creativity to the test! Build a boat from minimal materials and then compete against others right here at the Historic Seaport. With some thin plywood, a lot of duct tape and good ol’ fashioned luck in tow — You will be sure to gain an entry spot in this historic regatta. Once you complete a vessel inspection at 12:30PM, on May 26th you will be good and ready to hit the waters at 1:30 PM.
Minimal Regatta Construction Rules:
1. One sheet of 4′ x 8′ x 1/4″ plywood
2. Two 2″x 4″ 8′
3. One pound of fasteners
4. One roll of 2″ x 60 yard duct tape
5. No caulking or adhesives – Epoxy paint is permitted
6. Painting of boats is optional
There are two categories of “Minimal Vessels” — Kayak/ Canoe Design & Open Design. Competitors will win prizes in each design group for Fastest – 1st & 2nd Place. Other prizes are awarded for the Most Creative Design – 1st & 2nd Place, Best Paint Jobs, Best Costumed Entries, Sportsmanship Awards, AND Sinker Awards. *information provided by schoonerwharf.com
