Make Mother’s Day a Historic One

It’s all about Mom this month! Spend Mother’s Day at the Key West Historic Seaport, a family-friendly environment that has something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

Start the day off with a comfortable stroll down Lazy Way Lane to find her the perfect authentic gift. The choices are endless as you find the eclectic unique shops and galleries. AER Photography and Art Gallery has a variety of pieces by the versatile, artistic, and well-equipped photographer, Alicia Earle Renner. Also along Lazy Way Lane is Dragonfly and Yours and Mayan Imports. Both of these shops you’ll find a wide assortment of colorful and bold handmade jewelry. Give mom her Key West essentials and get her prepared for her next trip down here by stopping in to the go-to shop for SPF apparel and waterproof accessories, Stingray Steve. From sunglasses and hats to dresses and bags, she’ll stay stylish and protected from the sun.

More shops can be found along the harborwalk, such as Bumble Bee Silver Company, Good Day on a Happy Planet, Hammerhead Surf Shop, Key West Artworks, Mac’s Sea Garden and Key West Bait and Tackle. Whether mom is into fishing excursions and outdoor fun or shopping trips and everything fashion, the Historic Seaport has what she’s looking for. Give mom a piece of Key West with any of the treasures that can be found at these shops.

Local Color is renowned for its incredible collection of stunning designer jewelry and amazing array of natural fabric tropical wear. Lilian Anderson, owner, said, “this has been a family owned locals favorite store for 30 years.” Local Color is offering 10% off on all jewelry for mom on Mother’s Day. Don’t forget to look for the Key West Bead Collection and KW Bracelet. Get Mom that perfect memory for the perfect day.

The 27th Annual Memorial Day tradition of Schooner Wharf Bar’s Minimal Regatta will be held May 27th at 12:00 p.m. Captivating thousands of spectators along the Key West harborwalk, competing teams will go for 1st Place finishes, Most Creative Design, Best Paint Job, Best Costume and, of course, the dubious honor of the Best Sinker. The event will take place right behind Schooner Wharf Bar and is a reflection of the colorful and unique spirit of Key West and its people – fun-filled, creative and just a bit different from the rest!
