Key West’s Historic Seaport Shows ‘Love For Keys Locals’

With a slowdown in local tourism in the Florida Keys and the uncertain world we live in, here at the Key West Historic Seaport we launched a special locals-only campaign to help our businesses get through the downturn while giving Monroe County residents a chance to enjoy our beautiful destination with special deals and specials.

Whether you’re in the mood to kick your feet up and sunbathe, enjoy a fishing adventure or peruse unique shops and restaurants, Key West’s 20-acre Historic Seaport is the perfect destination for locals in need of a much-needed micro-vacation — or staycation — that’s only a short car, scooter, bike ride or walk away.

The best way to get here is look for the harborwalk waterfront at the ends of Front, Greene, Elizabeth, William, Margaret and Grinnell streets.

The Love for Locals campaign features digital media marketing of the Key West Historic Seaport and its nearly 100 tenants to Florida Keys residents. The goals of this campaign are both short and long-term:

  • Generate excitement, traffic and revenue for local businesses to help reinvigorate the local economy and showcase merchants’ services;
  • Market the shops, eateries and watersports at the Key West Historic Seaport;
  • Provide locals with the opportunity to benefit from special discounts and premiums in the popular tourist destination while crowds are small.

“The past several months have been a time of uncertainty. We are thrilled to promote our Historic Seaport tenants during this time and offer our locals and guests the best deals and unique offerings along the beautiful harborwalk and waterfront,” said Michael Knowles, chairman of the Key West Bight board, which oversees the neighborhood. “We’re excited for the Love for Locals campaign to help reinvigorate our local Key West Historic Seaport businesses while giving back to the community. They will help showcase all that the Historic Seaport and Key West have to offer.”

The Love for Locals campaign began by surveying all seaport tenants about their current specials, sales, promotions and giveaways. This survey information will be offered on a separate web page for easy access and viewing for residents of Monroe County.

Offer redemptions by Monroe County residents will be verified through various ways such as valid driver’s licenses.
