Eager to help residents and businesses get back to work and on the road to economic recovery, the City of Key West has worked tirelessly to ensure all city operations adhere to best practices and guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Fortunately, all Key West restaurants and retail establishments are allowed to be open, provided they follow all rules to protect the health and safety of guests, employees, and the public. You can read the latest directive in full, but we’ve made it easier for you in this post by highlighting the key rules and recommending some dining spots with that irreplaceable Key West flavor.
Current Mask Rules
Every person in Key West who is away from their residence needs to carry/wear a face mask at all times, even if social distancing is also maintained. It’s the responsibility of businesses to ensure that every individual in an establishment complies with these regulations.
Exceptions to Mask Rules
- Brides/Grooms: Brides and grooms do not need to wear masks while having photographs taken at their wedding ceremony.
- Musicians/Entertainers: Entertainers and performers who are separated from their audience by plexiglass and at least 10 feet may remove their facial coverings/masks.
- Private Boats/Private Vehicles: Masks are not mandatory if you are in a private, non-commercial vehicle or vessel.
Open for Business
All restaurants are open with capacity limits, including no seating at bars or counters in restaurants is currently allowed. Here are a few of our favorites:
Fisherman’s Cafe
Fisherman’s Cafe mixes the Old Key West flavors with a bold, modern twist. For one of the classics, we recommend Harvey’s Johnny Cake smothered in cheese grits. If you’re looking for a modern twist, check out their Lobster Enchilau Tacos with island sauce or a Black Bean Burger with avocado. Not hungry and just looking for a morning caffeine fix? They open every morning at 7:00 A.M. with fresh coffee, cafe con leche, and coladas.
Conch Republic Seafood Company
This waterfront spot features delicious eats, live music, and an amazing happy hour. There’s even an aquarium! Conch Republic is a great place to indulge in your favorite classic Key West seafood. Conch chowder? Mahi sandwiches? What about some of their special pink shrimp? Your seafood cravings await.
Schooner Wharf Bar
In addition to mouthwatering seafood and delicious burgers, wings, & sandwich selections, it’s always a party at Schooner Wharf Bar.
But don’t take our word for it – look at their exciting list of upcoming fall & winter events that’ll surely get you into the holiday spirit.
